There’s this little green dot

That’s become my whole world

Because on the other side of this little green dot

Is this amazing little girl

I think she’s thinking of me

When she sees that I’m online

I know I hope she’s missing me

When she sees she’s looking at mine

And the distance between the two of us

Is far greater than the miles

And that distance is filled with memories

Of hugs, of laughter and smiles

But it’s the winks of understanding

And the unspoken grace of knowing her

That makes that green dot almost pulse

As my heartbeat beats undeterred

And in the hours between each sighting

I try to find my way

A way that doesn’t let me run to check my messages

To somehow get me through my day

Because sometime around bedtime

I’m hoping to catch a glimpse

Of knowing that someone out there knows me

And she’ll sleep knowing it’s her I miss
